Depth of the word Prolific

I have found a beautiful word “prolific”. And I loved it so much that I decided to save it and dedicate an entire note to it .

Prolific is an adjective that is used to describe either something that exists in large quantities or something that produces in large quantities.
Synonyms: plentiful | abundant | productive| creative

Pro • lif • ic

I am rolling it on my tongue, savoring every syllable and allowing the definition to make sense for me.

A prolific creature gives birth to something that is an extension of themselves. It’s not about producing large qualities of shit work. It’s about inspired work (“to inspire” — “to breathe into” from Latin). Creation that is an extension of the creator.

For the longest time I have been striving to be prolific. Without knowing about it.

I wanted to create not the work that will sell, but the work that is an extension of me. Create something that is not a goal in itself, but rather the documentation of a thought-untangling process on the way to that goal.

I still don’t know what it is, what shape it should take, what medium (ha!). But I do know that it should serve a purpose for myself while it’s being created & then it needs to be released in this world so it can become a nutrient-rich compost for other’s ideas.

You only can create like that by living & sharing and noticing and processing and connecting & sharing again & learning. It is by removing all the beliefs and ‘shoulds’ and ‘have-tos’ we can produce abundantly because the only endless resource is the one within, not hidden by limiting beliefs and biases.

And being able to do that continually means you’re really good at living. Or rather good at getting better at living. Doing life for living. Professionally living.
